LOS ANGELES LAKERS PREVIEW
Los Angeles will attempt to build on their 2 game win streak after their victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, 109 – 105; James: 32 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists. The Lakers enter this contest with a 8-2 record in their last 10 games and a 5-3 mark at home. LeBron James led the Lakers with 32 points in their last game against the cavaliers. He went 11-of-20 from the field, for a 55.0% field goal percentage; 8/12 from the line, 2/6 from three-point range. In 35 minutes, James’ stat line came out to 32 points, 7 assists, 14 rebounds, 1 block and 2 threes with 4 turnovers.
During the seven-game winning streak in the series, the Jazz have outscored the Lakers by an average of 12.9 points (103.6-90.7). The closest last year was a seven-point margin of victory.
The Lakers are one of the best teams in the league in blocks per game (#3), points per game (#4) and field goal percentage (#5). The team needs work on free throw percentage (#24), turnovers per game (#22) and offensive rebounds per game (#12).
UTAH JAZZ PREVIEW
The Jazz’s inconsistency continues. They have had two three-game winning streaks this season. After the first, they lost the next four. Then, since that most recent three-game run, Utah has dropped four of five following Wednesday’s 119-110 home loss to Sacramento.
The Kings are much better this year, but the Jazz shouldn’t be losing that game at home. Utah was on the wrong end of a 16-1 run in the fourth quarter that clinched it for the visitors. Mitchell had 35 points but no other starter more than 13. Utah led the NBA in defence a season ago at 99.8 ppg, but is allowing 108.5 ppg this year.
