Liverpool are currently in talks with Napoli regarding a potential player plus cash deal for star defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
Koulibaly is regarded as one of the best defenders in the world and has caught the eye of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, the Reds have begun negotiations as they seek to finalise the move in the coming weeks.
It has been suggested by some quarters that the Reds want to include out of favour defender Dejan Lovren as part of the deal.
This has not gone down well with Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis who wants a better proposal.
The eccentric president values Koulibaly at €100 million and is prepared to stick with his valuation.
Koulibaly is expected to leave Naples in the summer with PSG also mooted as a potential target.
Liverpool have the financial capability to pull off this deal.
If the towering defender moves to Anfield, it would be a dream partnership with Virgil Van Dirk at the heart of the defence.
