Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Pape Matar Sarr from Ligue 1 side Metz.
It is said that the 18-year-old will be loaned back to the French outfit for the 2021-22 season.
The Senegalese footballer was impressive for the Maroons last season, helping them finish tenth in the table.
He clocked up 26 appearances across all competitions for the Ligue 1 side last term, smashing four goals in the process (stats from Transfermarkt).
His impressive performances in France reportedly sparked transfer interest from several top European clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea.
However, he decided to join Spurs in the end in a move believed to be around €15 million (as per 90MIN).
Metz were said to be reluctant to sell the talented player this transfer window, but they changed their mind after a meeting with the DNCG (the organisation responsible for monitoring the accounts of French clubs).
Tottenham Hotspur have already signed Cristian Romero and Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta on loan deals.
While they have also secured the services of Bryan Gil from Sevilla for £21.6m plus Erik Lamela.
Spurs endured a disappointing 2020-21 season, finishing seventh in the Premier League table.
They will be aiming to do better this campaign under new boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
