Manchester United want big money for Outcast

Manchester United will demand big money in January to sell Phil Jones. The Sun says they will demand £20million to sanction an exit for unwanted defender Jones.

The former Blackburn Rovers centre-back was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2011 to great expectation but has seen his career stall due to injury, loss of form and he is now on the periphery of the first-team squad.

Jones, who was surprisingly awarded a new contract as he extended his deal through to 2023 last summer, could look to end his United predicament in January and it will take a fee of £20m.

A number of Premier League clubs have shown interest in him in the past, and Fulham looked at him this summer.

Jones has struggled with his fitness in recent seasons and has managed just eight games in the past 12 months. He last featured in an FA Cup tie at Tranmere back in January and scored in the 6-1 victory.

Solskjaer already offloaded Chris Smalling to Roma in the transfer window, with his defenders struggling for form.

The player who failed to secure a move away from Old Trafford in the summer transfer window is yet to feature in the English Premier League this season.

The English international has also been excluded from United’s Champions League squad earlier this month.

It has been reported that Solskjaer has no plans at present to use Jones much this campaign, with just fleeting appearances in the FA and EFL Cup planned.

It is yet to be seen where the defender ends up playing even as he plans to get more game time under his seat belt with the goal of returning back to the English national team.
