Manchester City are inching close to signing Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz according to reports in Italy. It has been hinted that City boss Pep Guardiola has told transfer chief Ferran Soriano to do what it takes to sign the midfielder in the summer.
Ruiz is regarded as one of the best young midfielders in the Italian League and has impressed since his move from Real Betis last season. Guardiola views Ruiz as an ideal replacement for club skipper David Silva set to leave at the end of the season.
It is understood that Ruiz is unsettled at the Naples outfit following the sack of Carlo Ancelotti earlier in the season and Napoli’s president Aurelio de Laurentiis feud with the players. De Laurentiis is known as a staunch negotiator as has pegged an asking price of €80million for the creative midfielder.
This is likely to be beyond the valuation of City with the Etihad outfit looking to sign the 23year old for around €50million.
This transfer is one that is likely to drawn out all summer and we will be monitoring the developments as they occur.
