Blackburn have signed Liverpool teenager Harvey Elliott on a season-long loan. The promising 17-year-old signed his first professional contract with the Reds in July and has made nine appearances since joining from Fulham in the summer of 2019
The promising player made the temporary switch to Ewood Park ahead of the deadline for transfer agreements with EFL clubs on Friday as he links up with Tony Mowbray.
Manager Tony Mowbray was a key factor in getting the deal done, with the Blackburn boss previously working with former Liverpool youngster and current Rangers star Ryan Kent as well as Leicester City midfielder James Maddison during his spell at Coventry
Following Liverpool’s early exit from the Carabao Cup, future opportunities and chances were limited for the England youth international so a decision was taken at Anfield to allow him to gain more first-team experiences somewhere else.
“Liverpool forward Harvey Elliott has joined Championship side Blackburn Rovers on loan for the remainder of the 2020-21 season,” said the Reds in a statement.
The transfer suits both parties as Blackburn will be hoping the club improved on their 11th place finish last season while Liverpool will also be able to keep a close eye on Elliott’s development with Blackburn being a local club
Elliott is the fourth arrival of the transfer window at Ewood Park, following Middlesbrough goalkeeper Aynsley Pears, who has signed a four-year contract, and Leeds’ Barry Douglas and Norwich’s Tom Trybull, both on season-long loans.
