According to The Athletic, Harvey Barnes is very close to penning new terms at Leicester City.
The 23-year-old’s current contract at the King Power Stadium is set to expire in 2024.
Premier League giants Liverpool are credited with an interest in the England international, though they haven’t made any formal bids yet.
However, Brendan Rodgers’ side are keen to hand him a lucrative new deal that will keep him at the Foxes until 2025.
The young English footballer is an academy graduate of the East Midlands outfit. He progressed through its ranks to earn his first-team debut in December 2016.
He remained on loan to several clubs over the years, including Milton Keynes Dons, Barnsley and West Brom.
The 2019-20 season was highly successful for him as the talented winger racked up 42 appearances across all competitions, netting seven goals and creating nine assists (stats from Transfermarkt).
Barnes also made a fine start to the 2020-21 campaign, with the Lancashire-born player earning his name on the scoresheet on nine occasions in 25 league appearances.
However, he subsequently suffered a knee injury and remained sidelined for the remainder of the season.
The 23-year-old has since returned to action and looked very impressive in Leicester’s 1-0 victory over Wolves at the weekend.
