Liverpool bods Jurgen Klopp is delighted with the way the Reds ended the season. Liverpool won at Newcastle on Sunday by 3-1 to complete what has been their best domestic campaign in 30 years.

Despite going behind early to a Dwight Gayle goal the Reds displayed the sort of ruthlessness that secured them the Premier League title at Saint James Park.

Virgil Van Dirk equalised for the visitors with a fine header with seven minutes to the break as both sides headed level. Belgium ace Divock Origi put the champions ahead with a curling effort outside the box before Sadio Mane came off the bench to put the result beyond the reach of the opposition with a nice effort from the left side of the box.

Speaking after the game Klopp believed that the players played an incredible game which was a microcosm of their season. “We played an incredible game, not a perfect game,” he said.

He also admitted that his delight with the way his team played throughout the season and pointed out their uncanny ability to win difficult games. “I liked the game. It’s far away from being perfect but over the season we did not just win games when everything was perfect, we won a lot of difficult games too.

Liverpool have ended the season with 99 points which is the second-highest in top-flight history, one behind what Manchester City managed two years ago.
