Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers believes that left-back Ben Chilwell can handle reports of a potential transfer move swirling around him. The England international has been tipped to make a summer switch to Chelsea in recent weeks and there had been speculations that this could affect his performances.
However, Rodgers is of the opinion that the transfer rumours should not distract the 22-year-old of his primary objectives which is to win games for the Leicester outfit. The former Celtic boss was responding to questions from journalists recently and was equivocal with his answers.
“I have no worries at all. Speculation is something you have to live within this industry.“He has good experiences now and can deal with that. It is a part of the game and we know that.”
Rodgers also expressed his delight on how the defender has played since the return to action praising his mental strength and playing ability. “Ben has come back and he has been brilliant. He has come back and looks fresh.“In the lockdown he has really pressed the reset button again.“He has been fit and his running ability has been great.
Chilwell is a quality defender and his goal against Watford showed some of the attacking aspects of his game. It is, therefore, no surprise that Chelsea are interested in his services.
