English side Chelsea are reportedly interested in Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir. The Blues have been linked to the player for a while and there were rumours about a move in January that failed to materialize.
Turkish platform, Fotospor reveals that the Blues have been getting feedback about the players progress from former midfielder Eddie Newton who is now the assistant manager at Trabzonspor.
Cakir is viewed as one of the best young stoppers in European football with the player impressing in the Turkish League. His good form has won him a place in the National team and Chelsea are looking to snap the Turkey star.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has had issues with current number one Kepa and there are reports that the Spaniard could be shipped out of the club in the summer. Cakir is seen as a decent replacement and is expected not to cost a fortune to sign.
However, they could face a race to sign the 23-year-old with Liverpool rumoured to be interested in the goalkeeper. Cakir was recently impressive in Trabzonspor recent Cup clash with Turkish giants Fernabahche and his stock is on the rise.
Chelsea are expected to splash big in the summer and the Turkey international could be part of the spree.
